Principal/Vice-Principal Appointments

The Quesnel School District is pleased to announce the following appointments effective August 1, 2026:

Principal – Carson Elementary

Mr. Mike Tate has been appointed as principal of Carson Elementary.  Mr. Tate has been in the principal position at Ècole Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary since August 2021 and previous to that was the principal at Lakeview Elementary and the vice-principal at Ècole Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary, Voyageur Elementary and Ècole Baker Elementary.

Mr. Tate holds a Master of Educational Technology degree and will be replacing Ms. Ashleigh Desbiens.

Principal – Ècole Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary

Ms. Carlie Coben has been appointed as the principal of Ècole Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary. Ms. Coben has been in the principal position at McNaughton Centre since August 2016 and previous to that was the principal at Barlow Creek Elementary.

Ms. Coben holds a Master of Arts in Leadership and Administration degree and will be replacing Mr. Mike Tate.

Principal – McNaughton Centre

Ms. Marissa Knauf has been appointed as the principal of McNaughton Centre.  Ms. Knauf has been in the principal position at Correlieu Secondary since August 2021 and previous to that was vice-principal at Correlieu Secondary, the principal at Parkland Elementary and the vice-principal at Quesnel Junior School and Ècole Baker Elementary.

Ms. Knauf holds a Master of Leadership and Administration degree and will be replacing Ms. Carlie Coben.

Principal – Correlieu Secondary

Mr. Shane Mummery has been appointed as the principal of Correlieu Secondary.  Mr. Mummery has been in the vice-principal position at Correlieu Secondary since August 2021 and previous to that was as a teacher in School District No. 33 (Chilliwack), teaching in a number of capacities since 2004. 

Mr. Mummery holds a Master of Educational Leadership degree and will be replacing Ms. Marissa Knauf.

Vice-Principal – Correlieu Secondary

Ms. Ashleigh Desbiens has been appointed as the vice-principal of Correlieu Secondary.  Ms. Desbiens has been in the principal position at Carson Elementary since August 2023 and previous to that was vice-principal at Ècole Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary. 

Ms. Desbiens holds a Master of Education degree and will be replacing Mr. Shane Mummery.
